SWIMMING PROGRAMME CRITERIA

 

1)Frogs Class (5 meters): 

Time range: 12-36 lessons*

Mandatory skills:

  • Understanding of basic pool rules 
  • Blowing bubbles and holding the breath
  • Head in the water with confidence
  • 360-degree spinning with a woggle.
  • Star Float on the front with teacher and aid support
  • Star Float on the back with teacher and aid support
  • Confident kicking in the water on the front and back for 5m
  • Make a supervised jump to the pool with support

 

2)Starfish Class (10 meters): 

Time range: 12-36 lessons*

Mandatory skills: 

  • Blow bubbles with the head under the water continuously 5 times
  • Star Float on the front 
  • Star Float on the back 
  • Push and glide with a board on the back and front
  • Kick 10m with a board on the front with face in the water and a good body position
  • Kick 10m with the board on the back 
  • Make a supervised jump to the pool without the support and swim back to the wall.

 

Additional skills:

  • Introduction breaststroke kick and dolphin kick
  • Push and glide underwater with an FC kick close to the bottom of the pool

 

3)Penguins Class (15 meters): 

Time range: 12-36 lessons*

Mandatory skills:

  • Blow bubbles while swimming
  • Front Crawl leg kick for 15m in streamline position (scull to breath)
  • Back Crawl leg kick for 15m in streamline position
  • Basic arms action on the front and back
  • Roll 180 degrees from front to back while kicking
  • Push and glide on the front in streamline position
  • Push and glide on the back with arms by the side
  • Collecting a dive stick

 

Additional skills:

  • Dolphin kick and breaststroke kick
  • Kicking sideways with the board and straight arms
  • Breathing to the side while holding the board with one arm

 

4)Seals Class (20 meters): 

Time range: 12-36 lessons*

Mandatory skills:

  • Streamline push and glide on front and back
  • Back Crawl legs without aid for 20m
  • Back Crawl arms without aid for 20m (continues arms action)
  • Front Crawl legs without aid for 20m
  • Front Crawl arms without aid for 20m (attempt for breathing)
  • Kicking sideways with the board and breathing
  • Sitting dive
  • Roll 180 degrees from front to back (streamline)

 

Additional skills:

  • Collect a dive stick with aid of the teacher

 

5)Marlins Class (25 meters): 

Time range: 12-36 lessons*

Mandatory skills:

  • Back Crawl legs without aid for 25m
  • Back Crawl for 25m with continuous arms action
  • Front Crawl legs without aid for 25m
  • Front Crawl arms without aid with bilateral breathing for 25m
  • Breaststroke legs for 25m with aid
  • Tread water using the sculling technique for 10s
  • Collect the dive stick from the bottom of the pool

 

Additional skills:

  • Dolphin kick
  • Tumble turn

 

6)Dolphins Class (50 meters): 

Time range: 12-36 lessons*

Mandatory skills:

  • Full Back Crawl for 50m (sport technique)
  • Full Front Crawl with breathing for 50m (sport technique)
  • Breaststroke legs for 50m
  • Breaststroke arms for 50m
  • Breaststroke basic timing for 50m (2s glide)
  • Dolphin kick for 50m on the front and back with hands by the side
  • Tread water using the sculling technique for 20s
  • Rotate 360 degrees without touching the pool floor while kicking

 

Additional skills:

  • Swim through a submerged hoop, collect dive sticks unaided (1.5m)
  • Safe kneeling dive
